About Integritas Counselling
Coming to terms with a diagnosis, treatment options or indeed experiencing any concerns regarding our health, can be a distressing and uncertain time. It can leave us feeling unsure, fearful and overwhelmed by the ‘not knowing’ of what lies ahead. Often, we find ourselves in a ‘new normal’, alongside; yet separate from the reality we once knew. Many people may find they experience intense thoughts and emotions, significant grief and loss and at times, depression and anxiety, during this time.
With both personal and professional experience I understand how overwhelming life can feel living with a significant health concern. Each person’s journey is a unique one and I strive to understand what your experience is like and how I can best help and support you.
Counselling provides you with the opportunity to talk through your concerns. It can help to ease distress by clarifying what is important to you, what options you have available and identifying and accepting what is and is not in your personal control. Talking with me can help to clear your thinking, enabling you to see more clearly the path ahead.
You will learn new ways of responding to difficult thoughts and feelings so that they have less impact and influence over your life. You will gain an increased awareness of what values are important to you, and how to use these values to guide and inspire your actions. This will enable you to strive towards making changes that will help you manage what is currently happening for you.
Mission
To provide compassionate care that supports, empowers and enables people, through evidence based interventions, to live meaningful lives with hope, direction, purpose, choice and control.
To do this, I endeavor to:
- Treat all people with, respect and dignity
- Be nonjudgmental and accepting of all individuals irrespective of their presenting challenge or concern
- Provide a safe and confidential space for people to talk
- Ensure that people feel understood and heard.
- Let my values of integrity, empathy, honesty, compassion, respect, connectedness and acceptance guide my clinical practice and my own day to day life

I am an experienced Registered Nurse and Counsellor, having worked with adults, teenagers and children, and their families for over 20 years. I have worked in many different clinical settings in public and private hospitals and also in community mental health centres.
For the past fifteen years, I have worked as a Clinical Nurse Counsellor at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane. In this role, I have gained extensive experience supporting individuals and their families, as they face significant health challenges either of an acute or chronic nature.
My decision to move into private practice is guided by my passion to provide similar support to people living within the community. Individuals and their families who are trying to live their day-to-day lives while coming to terms with, navigating and managing significant health related challenges.
I recognise that all individuals are unique and I tailor my counseling approach accordingly. I have been trained in various therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. Currently, I draw primarily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to guide my practice.
ACT is a mindfulness based behavioural therapy that helps people live meaningful lives guided by their values. Values encompass what really matters to an individual and building an awareness of one’s values, can help individuals learn how to behave and act in a way that is important to them. This enables them to be the person they want to be, not only to those around them, but also to themselves.
